The RWS trademark has been synonymous with premium German made airguns and airgun ammunition for more than three decades. RWS air rifles have been the benchmark in quality and accuracy for hunting and pest control pellet guns among airgunners around the world. RWS pellet guns are known for their German quality and their robust limited lifetime warranty.
RWS is a trademark which dates back to the 1800s and comes from a small company located in the German state of North Rhine Westphalia. The company name was, “Rheinish-Westfalische Sprengstoff (RWS)” or “Rhenania Westphalia Explosives”. Early in the 20th century, RWS joined Dynamit Nobel, formed by scientist and industrialist, Alfred Nobel, who was also the founder of the distinguished Nobel Prize. In the beginning, the company produced Nobel’s own invention, a safety explosive called Dynamite. Over time the company came to concentrate efforts in the shooting sports and today, RWS is associated with the highest quality airguns and airgun ammunition available.

Good Points
Very accurate, very powerful(over 400fps with rws pellets), about 60 shots per Co2 capsule (I use walther ones) which is great for a pistol of this power, looks great, is heavy and very stable in use, single and double action.
Bad Points
I can so far see slight wearing on the hammer.
General Comments
I am reviewing the RWS c225 6" version not the 4"
I ordered my RWS c225 6" from jsr ramsbottom for £110, and bought 50 co2 capsules and some pellets. It arrived next day and when I opened the box I took out the grey RWS box and opened that, inside it had a tin of rws pellets, 2 rotary magazines, 2 allen keys for gun maintenance and the gun wrapped in plastic to protect the foam case from the factory fresh preserving grease it was in.
I loaded a Co2 capsule (very easy to do) and loaded a rotary magazine with pellets and began to plink away at a target, the gun very easily hits a 40mm target at 10m, and im sure that a more accurate shooter could get much better results than this! The gun emits a surprisingly loud bang for an airpistol, but it hardly sounds like a real gun, but might annoy neighbors, also, there is no commerically available compatible silencer.
The gun weighs over a kilogram and is very stable, single action is fun and accurate and double action is great fun, but as it is twice as hard to pull the trigger it lacks as much accuracy (when you pull the trigger hard it jerks to the right/left depending on which hand you are using). It is very well built, being German, and the only plastic parts in the gun are the handgrips. Would easily survive being dropped a few times, so far the only problem is a slight wearing of the hammer that strikes the firing fin, as it appears to be made of a softer alloy.
People seem to disregard this gun as a lesser gun to the CP99, it is far from that, it is more powerful, accurate and better made and at most websites in the UK
My Pistol has the plastic case with the cut outs, in the foam interior, for pellets, spare mags, spare co2 and of course the pistol!
I will also include a trigger mounted laser red dot pointer with remote switch for fast target aquisition - Great little pistol! I need the cash to upgrade my HFT rifle! |
